HOLIDAY LIGHTS AT EAST COBB PARK!

This
annual holiday tradition featured a children’s choir, brass quartet, special
guest appearances by Santa Claus and Rudolph, award-winning bell ringers and
the lighting of our live 40-foot tall East Cobb Park tree. Six
levels of sponsorship were available – Presenting, Gold, Silver, Bronze, Homeowners
Association, and Friends and Family. The details of these sponsorship levels

Form. Sponsorship donations are tax deductible, as Friends for the East Cobb

AUCTION
Wednesday, October 21st at the Indian Hills Country Club
The 18th Annual Wine Tasting and Silent Auction is a joint effort of East Cobb
Civitan Club and Friends for the East Cobb Park. The honorary chairman for this event
is Cobb County Commissioner Sam Olens.
Each year over 100 items are offered in the silent auction, as well as the live
auction items and raffles. A wide variety of wines are provided by the Wine
Shop at Parkaire for the tasting. You can look forward to a wonderful event! Click

BAND CONCERT
Featuring the Gospel Jazz Band
Saturday night, October 10 at 5:00 p.m. in the Johnson Ferry Baptist Church North Parking Lot*.
Enjoy jazz and big band standards with the vocal stylings of Mary Stephens and
Jim Nordine. Bring a picnic dinner, family and friends, and enjoy the music! Johnson
Ferry Baptist Church will be collecting donations at the event to benefit Friends
for the East Cobb Park. *In the event of rain,
the concert will be held in the Activities Center.
TAI CHI FOR SENIORS
Attention Seniors! Please join us at 10am on the second and fourth Friday of
the month (through October) for Tai Chi for Seniors. Classes have been moved
indoors to Parc at Piedmont's Fitness Center due to the flood-damage at East Cobb

ULTIMATE PLAYDATE will return in Spring 2010
Ultimate Playdate, one of the park’s most popular warm-weather events, encourages
families to take an outdoor break for some fresh air and family-friendly music. Each
Wednesday from 4pm to 7pm (weather permitting), Jay Memory, founding member of the
national act Memory Dean, performs old favorites and leads children in sing-alongs.

ARTSCAPE! begins Thursday, April 23rd
Due to the overwhelming response, sessions are completely full.

ARTSCAPE! is a free outdoor art program
for children ages 4-8. This event will be held on Thursday afternoons April 23, April 30 and May 7. The
program is the result of a grant provided by Grassroots Arts Program (GAP).

EGG HUNT AT EAST COBB PARK
Spring is in the air with an Egg Hunt at the park Saturday, April 11th. Festivities
begin at 10 am. Activities will include an egg hunt, crafts, bounce house, Easter Basket
Silent Auction and pictures with the Easter Bunny. This year’s Egg Hunt is sponsored
by The Coffee Park.

HOLIDAY CELEBRATION AT EAST COBB PARK
Friends for the East Cobb Park sponsored the 5th annual family
Holiday Lights Celebration on Saturday, December 6th at the park. The celebration
featured holiday music and a sing-along with recording artist and park
friend Jay Memory. Mike “Big Daddy DJ” was
the master of ceremonies. Santa and Rudolph arrived just
after 7pm, and attendees were encouraged to bring their own cameras
for photos with Santa.

The 17th Annual Wine Tasting
and Silent Auction
East Cobb Civitan Club and Friends of the East Cobb Park held the 17th annual Silent
Auction and Wine Tasting on Wednesday, November 12th at 6 PM at the Indian Hills Country
Club. The honorary chairman for this event was Cobb County Commissioner Sam Olens. Each year

Guided Nature Walks
Natural Resource Management staff met at East Cobb Park on the last Wednesday of the summer months
for children and parents to enjoy guided nature walks, nature related activities and crafts. These Nature
Adventure Days were held 9 a.m. to noon on May 28, June 25 and July 30 at the East Cobb Park upper

Picnic at the Park

A celebration of the 5th anniversary of East Cobb Park! This event featured barbeque from Williamson Bros., smoothies and iced coffee from The Coffe Park and activities
for the children including a train, magician and inflatable moonwalk/slide.
Music Festival

The East Cobb Music Festival will brought together local performers in folk, rock and roll, jazz, bluegrass, and feature children's entertainers. This
special event was a fundraiser for the Friends of the East Cobb Park. Each band played at the top of each hour for 45 minutes. For more information,

Santa at the Park

Santa wouldn't miss the opportunity to come back to East Cobb Park. Come see him this Wednesday afternoon at the park stage area.
The 16th Annual Auction and Wine Tasting held on Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at Trilogy in East Cobb was a HUGE success. The proceeds from this
joint fundraiser benefited Camp Big Heart, Friends for the East Cobb Park, local scholarships and many other community projects for the aged, homeless,
handicapped and needy.
The East Cobb Civitan Club officially donated $12,375.00 to Friends for the East Cobb Park in December. Accumulated gifts to the Park
from this event now exceed $72,000!

Families in the community were invited to bring their own
pumpkin and utensils to design and carve their own jack o'lantern.
Punch (orange, of course) and cookies were sold, and the proceeds
went towards creating more trails for the park.
13th Annual Auction and Wine Tasting at Houck’s Grill,
On Thursday, November 4th, 2004, the East
Cobb Civitan club partnered with the "Friends for
the East Cobb Park, Inc." to hold its 13th Annual Auction
and Wine Tasting event. Thanks to the support of the Wine
Shop at Parkaire and Houcks
Grill as our premier sponsors of this event. Congressman
Johnny
Isakson and Cobb Commission Chairman Sam
Olens once again Co-Chaired this event.
Junior
Advisory Board Ice Cream Socials took place at the park
last summer with proceeds going to improving the trails in
the park. These events were sponsored by Cold
Stone Creamery with special thanks to John Christian.
Junior Advisory Board "High School Hoops",
took place Thursday, March 25, from 7 to 9PM at Pope High
School. The event was a fun basketball game featuring coaches
and students from Pope, Walton and Wheeler. The East Cobb
Park Junior Advisory Board is made up of 5th grade to high
school seniors, so please come out and support them and the
park!
The East Cobb Civitans 12th Annual Auction & Wine Tasting
at Houck's Restaurant on November 6th from 6-8PM. Proceeds
that night totaled over $16,500, with The East Cobb Park receiving
$10,215.18. The East
Cobb Civitan club recognizes premier sponsors, Lee Stuart
of Houck’s
Grill Paper Mill and Don Brown of the Wine
Shop at Parkaire. They also thank their “in kind”
donors: Doug Voland of Specialized Printing and Cynthia Rosso
of the East Cobber, as well as Dan O’Brien of O’Brien
Productions and Tommy Walker, their credit card processor.

2nd Annual East Cobb Park Benefit Golf Tournament
Monday,
June 14, 2004 at Cobblestone
Golf Course. A great tournament with great prizes, food
and beverages. Our goodie bags included a white golf shirt
with the Friends logo on the sleeve and the Club Car logo
on the front in addition to golf balls, tees, static stickers
and more. Our First Place team received 4 foursomes of golf
at Brookfield Country Club and each player received a Pro
shop gift certificate. Golfers had a chance to win 4 foursomes
at Brookfield and Woodmont, Pro shop gift certificates, golf
covers, a picket at the park, a cobble at the park and more.
The
Benefit Golf Tournament was such a success! Friends for
the East Cobb Park held their first annual golf tournament
on Monday, June 9, 2003 at Cobblestone
Golf Course in Acworth. This event, chaired by Dena Rodrigues
and Sunny Walker, raised $10,500 which will be used for ongoing
improvements to the park.
